Interactive Academy Staff

Barb Weaver, Interactive Academy Executive Director, Cheer Director
Barb has a BS in Elementary Education and a Masters in Early Childhood from Indiana State University. She has taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade and has over 27 years of experience teaching gymnastics, dance and cheerleading. She retired from Tumble Express after 25 years to be closer to her family and home in Zionsville. In the fall of 2006, Barb began teaching at InterActive Academy. Since 1994 Barb has owned Fitness & Fun Gymnastics on the SE side of Indy. She has been married to husband, Mike, for 10 years and they have 2 sons at PVE and a daughter in Pre-K at InterActive Academy. Her goal is to help each child achieve his/her academic and physical goals while having fun.

Roxana Heller, Pre-school 1 Assistant Teacher
Roxana is a Teacher's Assistant in the Preschool classroom. She lives in Carmel with her two daughters, ages 12 and 9. Roxana has a degree in Accounting, but after being a stay at home Mom for 10 years, she realized how much she enjoys working with children. She spent the last three years as an Instructional Assistant at Towne Meadow. Roxana likes to travel, and enjoys working in the yard and most outdoor activities.

Sally Sweet, Pre-school 1 Teacher
Sally is originally from Michigan and earned her BA from Michigan State University. She then continued to Spring Arbor University where she earned her teaching certification with an added early childhood endorsement. Sally has had experiences working within both the regular and special education settings. She enjoys helping children learn to their potential, and is very excited to be a part of the learning community at InterActive Academy. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, and her family and friends.

Jenny Tucker, Art Teacher
Jenny and her husband moved to Zionsville with their 2 children, ages 7 & 5, from Chicago. She has a fine arts degree from DePauw University and has experience teaching art to school-age children. Jenny has worked as a freelance graphic designer and owns her own stationary design business. Jenny is excited to share her joy of art with children at InterActive.

Dottie Strawn, Pre-school 3 Teacher
Dottie has a B.S. degree in education with an endorsement in special education. She also holds a M.S. degree in learning disabilities and neurology impairment from Indiana University. She has twenty-three years experience teaching in the public school system in Indiana. Dottie has two children, a son who lives in Broad Ripple and a daughter with three little boys who live in Zionsville. In her spare time, she likes to read, ride her bicycle, do aerobics, scuba dive, sing in her church choir and baby sit her grandsons.

Kristen Bellisario, Music Teacher
Kristen has an MFA in Music Performance from the University of California. Since moving to the Central Indiana area, she founded the Southern Indiana Youth Symphony (Musical Arts Youth Orchestra) to promote music education for children and has served as director for several arts organizations. She has worked in communities to provide music outreach programs funded by the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. She currently is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, a freelance multimedia developer for a music education company, and enjoys sharing the joy of music with the young children at InterActive Academy. She and her husband have two children and enjoy nature, gymnastics and of course, music.

Señora Rojas, Spanish Teacher
Señora Rojas attained an Architectural degree from the University Autonoma de Guadalajara in Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico. She now resides in Zionsville with her husband of 20 years and their two children, ages 16 and 12. On a daily basis, she divides her time between the LAL program (Learn Another Language), where she has taught Spanish to 2nd graders for the past three years, here at the Interactive Academy and then on to Zionsville Middle School. In her spare time she enjoys reading, family time and working with stained glass.

Susan Maler, Preschool Teacher
Susan lives in Zionsville with her four children and husband. Susan has a B.S. in Elementary Education from DePaul University and recently returned to the workforce after several years as a stay at home mom. Susan loves being a teacher and observing how much her students grow throughout the year. In her spare time, she enjoys exercise, travel, shopping and cooking.

Mykel Zwayer, Kindergarten Teacher & Gymnastics Coach
Mykel is originally from Ohio, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University.  Mykel has substitute taught in elementary schools, grades kindergarten through fifth.  For the last two years, she has been teaching preschool (PreK).  Last year along with teaching PreK, she was also Director of the school.  Mykel is excited to be teaching Kindergarten at Interactive Academy this upcoming year.  She looks forward to a successful year, where the students will engage in developmentally appropriate activities and be challenged through small and large group instruction, hands-on activities, and learning centers.  Mykel also has over twelve years of experience instructing and coaching artistic gymnastics.  She is currently a certified level 9 gymnastics official.  She is also a member of USA Gymnastics, NAWGJ, and has a safety certification, as well as CPR and first aid.  In her spare time, she enjoys watching college football, cooking and baking, playing with her puppy, Peanut, and spending time with her husband, Tim.

Natalie Hines, Pre-school Teacher & Gymnastics Instructor
Natalie earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Indiana University, Bloomington and her Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Griffith University, Australia. During the past several years while living in Hawaii, Australia and Indiana, she taught many levels ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade in both regular and special education. Natalie has a special interest in teaching reading and literacy skills and helping students to become lifelong learners. Natalie, her husband, Glenn and daughter, Madelyn enjoy reading, playing outside, and spending time with family and friends.

Debbie Foust, Preschool Teacher
Debbie has 29 years experience working with preschool children. She had her own homecare in Nebraska for over 3 years. She has the equivalent of an associate’s degree in early childhood development and is currently working to finish her BS. She lived in England for 12 years where her two oldest daughters and their husbands, and two grandchildren still reside. She has a son in California and a 15-year-old son at home. She loves teaching preschool and watching how they grow and change in such a short time.

Sue Masten, Cafeteria Manager, Before and After School Care
Sue is a native of Zionsville where she resides with her husband Skip. Thay have three sons, Andrew, Alex and Adam. She attended IUPUI where she studied business. She was an independent insurance agent and soon realized she wanted to work with children. She enjoys watching the students try new foods and finds her job very rewarding. Sue is serve-safe certified and keeps her kitchen very clean and organized. She also works in the before and after school care programs.
